Aptana Studio drops native PHP support

Gutted! Aptana Studio, the editor I use for PHP development, has released the latest version, 2.0, and removed support for native PHP editing at the same time. :(

They’re now carrying on with PHP support by way of PDT but the features don’t seem to be anywhere near as good. It doesn’t take much looking around on Google to see that there are a lot of *very* disappointed & angry people out there in response to this, including me. As much as I dislike writing posts of a negative nature, I can’t help this one, sorry.

Ohh that’s pants :( Thanks for letting us know – is the update automatic? If not I’ll make sure I stick with the old version as that’s just fine for the work I need to do.

Hi Toni – nope the update isn’t automatic, thankfully! 2.0 looks quite nice and apparently has some nice features but isn’t worth the upgrade from what I’ve read. :) Plus there’s another sucky thing – if you install 2.0 you can’t export the configuration from 1.5 and import it into 2.0 – you have to completely reconfigure the environment again. I’m sticking with 1.5 for sure!
