So, what is the Digital Formula site about? It’s the personal blog of me, Chris Rasmussen. I’m a Senior Systems Engineer which means I work in the infrastructure, systems, administration, implementation and integration side of IT. Over the past few years I’ve worked on deepening my knowledge of software development using the Microsoft .NET platform and have had exposure to numerous .NET projects both in my personal and business life. Apart from developing a number of websites using the .NET platform for personal use I’ve also developed applications for corporate use, most recently for the ICT Team at GroundProbe (Brisbane, AU) and the Platform Team at Trade Me (Wellington, NZ).
I’m currently employed as “Senior Systems Engineer – Storage” (SAN Specialist) at Fujitsu here in Wellington. This role involves a 100% focus on storage area network implementation, support and planning. SAN stuff is pretty hard to blog about considering its niche nature but if I happen across something cool & SAN-related I will be putting that up here too. Anyway, it’s a very cool role and something I’m really enjoying so far. Before Fujitsu I was Senior Systems Administrator at GroundProbe, a firm that designs and manufactures unique measurement & safety systems for the international mining and civil infrastructure industries.
Recently I’ve been putting a lot of time into developing the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) in the blog section of my partner’s website, Erin King Photographer. SEO, for those not familiar with it, is a critical part of driving traffic to a website – without it nobody really knows you exist online! My focus in this area is very much Wordpress based as I’ve worked with WP for a few years now and continue to do so on a number of different sites, including this one. I’m always keen to discuss anything related to Wordpress so feel free to use my contact form and drop me a line.
Carrying on though, Digital Formula is a place for me put technical articles about the various things I encounter in my line of work. For example there will be articles about Infrastructure, Microsoft .NET, Cool Web Stuff, Security, Scripts and Databases. From time to time I’ll put up completely non-technical stuff too if something comes up worth sharing.
